Doues

“pastoral alpine atmosphere,
warmed by the locals’ friendliness”

The 25 villages which form the municipality of Doues are arranged on a splendid morainic terrace, at between 1000 and 1500 meters high, completely South facing and sheltered from the northern winds.

Agriculture thrives here and the typical alpine nature presents itself as still uncontaminated, making every trip a unique experience. Among the numerous possible hiking routes, the most gripping is the ascent to the Champillon Pass, from the peak of which the most incredible horizons open out over the Great St. Bernard valley and the Aosta Valley.

Wood and iron are dominant in the artisan craft of the region and the numerous workshops scattered over the area offer a great variety of irresistible traditional handmade products.

Action Doues

Somewhere between baseball and golf, is rebatta. Talking about it in Doues is just the same as talking about rugby in New Zealand. It is a traditional sport, passed down through the ages and recognised by the Italian Games Federation of Traditional Sports. A discipline in which ability, dexterity and technical capability are fundamental.

Those who visit Doues should try, at least once, to make a swing on the pitch. A special experience, which honours many years of the town’s excellent competitive team’s successes, not to mention those of the sport’s greatest player of all time: Nex Bruno.
