Issime

“The Last Judgement
in the heart of the Valley of Lys”

Issime, known as Eischeme in local dialect, the “Toistschu”, is a picturesque dwelling set in the heart of the Valley of Lys, an ideal destination for lovers of mountain hiking and long scenic walks, among verdant hills and wide valleys.

A Roman settlement, it boasts the frescoed facade of the church Saint Jacques le Majeure, depicting the Last Judgement, and the Baroque altar of the church, which is inlaid with more than 182 gilded statues.

In a privileged position, just moments away from the major ski resorts of the area, Issime is ideal departure point for trekking in the Saint Gratus valley, towards the Colle Dondeuil, a route dotted with typical “Stadel”, rural wooden buildings which date back to the XVI and XVII centuries.

Soft action Issime

Trekking on the trail of Walsers: a circular route which crosses the Saint Gratus valley. Leaving from the chapel dedicated to the Saint, you reach the chapel of Mühni, at 2000 meters altitude.

The Stein pasture overlooks the plateau: at the foot of a landslide, it stands between two enormous mass of stone which protect it from avalanches and shape its structure. The gentle slope goes through Vlüeckji and a series of mountain pastures.
