Valtournenche - life base

“At the foot of the majestic Mount Cervin”

All those who have contributed to the history of mountaineering have passed through here. In fact, the town is the birth place of Mount Cervin’s most celebrated mountain guides of all time.

From ancient times, travellers who have come onto the hill have found themselves before the incredible spectacle of Mount Cervin.
Abbé Gorret (famous mountaineer from the Aosta Valley) said: “For a resident of Valtournenche his village will always be the centre of the world”.

Surrounded by limitless pastures and lovely conifer woods, the municipality of Valtournenche is set in the green valley at the foot of Mount Cervin, a position which makes it a favourite starting point for evocative walks, hikes and climbs.

The waters of the Marmore river have carved a ravine into the mountain, 100 meters long and 35 meters deep, with a jump of over 10 meters: Les Gouffres de Busserailles.

Action Valtournenche

Freedom on two wheels:
As well as on foot, you can also explore Valtournenche on mountain bike, thanks to the three free-ride and downhill trails, of varying difficulty, thought up for lovers of cycling. You can choose between the Reine Blanche trail, of medium difficulty, the Baracon trail, short but intense, and the Manda trail, which has an elevation of 100 m+.

A renowned skiing destination, beneath the picturesque range of the Grandes Murailles range, Valtournenche offers a resort with 45 km of snowy slopes, between Mount Roisetta and the Grand Sometta, with glorious views over Mount Cervin.
The 2982 meters of the Cimes Blanches are connected to the resorts of Breil-Cervinia and Zermatt, which can be reached on snow shoes: a true paradise for lovers of winter sports.

Two cross-country skiing pistes: la Maen, 6.6 km long, and la Champlève, 3.3 km long. For fledgling snow surfers, instead, the Buffalo Snowpark of the Cimes Blanches, in the La Salette area, is ideal for all those who want to venture into the exciting world of jumps, tricks and grinds.
