Linked up since 2010, Valle d'Aosta today boasts two perfect Alte Vie high mountain routes, marked out between the earth and the sky: no. 1, known as “Alta Via dei Giganti”, and no. 2, known as “Alta Via Naturalistica”, created a year later together with the “Trekking dei Giganti” trail.
 
This round-trip trekking itinerary has no equal anywhere in the world: 370 km long, with an altitude difference of 27,200 metres, running through two natural parks: the Gran Paradiso National park and the Mont Avic Regional Park and the Mont-Mars nature reserve.
 
The landscape here is truly exceptional: the routes wind their way around 4 of the highest mountains in Europe: Mont Blanc (4810 m), the Gran Paradiso (4061 m), Monte Rosa (4634 m) and the Matterhorn (4478 m).
The fauna and flora are preserved with care and the food and wine traditions of this French-speaking region, the smallest in Italy, are absolutely superb – not to mention the local culture and architecture, shaped by thousands of years of history, and the comfort the region’s hotels and mountain huts have become famous for!
There are a number of different options on offer to allow visitors to explore all or part of this unique trail, unrivalled in Europe.
