At the end of the first day of Tor des Géants® 2016 the commissioners of the course, loyal to their role and assignments, expelled the first and hopefully the last trailer. Reason: the runner didn’t take with him a relevant part of the compulsory material.
He was already noticed during the material check in Courmayeur the day before the start of the race. He didn’t have the crampons which mysteriously appeared in his backpack in a second time.
Yesterday he was checked again short before Valgrisenche and the Base Vita where he declared his crampons and telephone were weirdly ended up in his yellow bag ready to hand. During the third inevitable inspection the foreign runner showed a pair of unregular crampons, different from the one presented at the first check, and claimed he had just lost his telephone.
The disqualification was at this point inevitable and much-needed for the safety of the trailer considering as well his first night through the hard route between Col Fenêtre and Col Entrelor.
