Pre registrations opening

it is not long before pre registrations opening at two of the four races signed TOR, organized by VDA Trailers.

On February 1st starting at 12.00 the pre-registrations will open for the Tor des Géants®, the "historic" race of the endurance trail, at its tenth edition, and for the Tor des Glaciers, the brand new race created exclusively for the TOR 2019.

The aspiring competitors will have time until February 14th at 18.00 to try to be part of the lot of the starters of both these competitions.

At Tor des Géants® (330 km and 24 thousand meters in altitude gain, starting September 8, maximum time of 150 hours) 800 competitors will be admitted, in addition to wild cards and solidarity and environmental bibs.
If the number of pre-enrolled students is higher than the number of expected participants, a draw will be made, as in the past, which will decide the names of those who will be able to be on the starting line.

They will avoid the draw and be admittet to the competition the senators and athletes who have completed the TOR 130 - Tot Dret in the 2017 or 2018 edition.

On February 1st the pre-registrations to the Tor des Glaciers as well will open, the new 450KM race and 32 thousand meters of positive difference in height launched for the first time to celebrate the tenth anniversary of the Tor des Géants®, which will start from Courmayeur on Friday 6th September at 8 pm. This competition blends the agonism with the purest adventure and it is reserved for only 100 runnerrs who have completed at least one edition of the Tor des Géants® within 130 hours, with the exception of the 2012 and 2015 editions (see regulations)

Participants must proceed for most of the journey in conditions of self-sufficiency, where the route is not marked (there will be only the official regional signs), they will have to follow the maps and the indications of their satellite navigator and have as reference points the high altitude refuges, where they will be entitled to meal, shower, bed and electric charges.

Completing the calendar of the week there are the TOR 130 - Tot Dret, 130 km race and 12 thousand meters in altitude, starting from Gressoney St. Jean on the evening of September 10th at 21.00 and the TOR 30 - Passage au Malatrà, the other novelty of the 10-year edition, "only" 30 km with departure from Saint-Rhemy-en-Bosses on September 14th at 10.00.

After the first pre-registration phase in February, official registrations for all four races will open on www.100x100trail.com from the 1st of March.

New regulations

To register, it is mandatory to read the regulations on the website www.tordesgeants.it; that have for some news for the 2019.

The most important concerns the material that every competitor must have, it is divided into "mandatory equipment" and "equipment required to complete the race safely”. The first, which includes, for example the mobile phone, two thermal blankets, the front lamps, the water supply and food, must always be carried in the backpack. The "equipment required" includes, always to give an example, crampons and heavy clothing. This material can be left in the TOR bag, which is moved from one life base to another by the organization, and used according to personal evaluations, or if made mandatory by the race direction, based on the weather conditions and the section to be tackled. Every runner departing from the life base must evaluate what kind of equipment he will need to get safely to the next life base, where he will find the TOR bag again, and prepare his own backpack to continue. It will be the athlete's responsibility to adequately manage the clothing and personal equipment to be used.
