The Tor : the images, the emotions

Fri, 13/01/2017 - 15:28 -- Chiara Jaccod

Denis Clerc, 52 years old, French, is a sportsman “par excellence”. He has been a very good football midfielder, he’s a talented skier (many times journalist Word champion) and, of course, a runner. He has started running in 2006 and he has ended different marathons in less than 3 hours. He has taken on his first ultra trail in 2008, the UTMB. In the running word he’s know with the nickname of “Zinzin Reporter”, and he works for France Télévision. In charge of sport, of course.

Putting together passions and work, Denis has taken part at the Tor des Géants® 2016 and he has realized, running, suffering and having fun, a long film. The images flow quickly also despite of the 1h45 of film because of the documentary and passionate style of the filmmaker. As a proof of the big success that this film (as the previous films of Denis too) has had on Youtube and on the French tv channel.

Denis, how this idea?

I started some years ago to document my races from the interior. At the beginning to allow my family and my friends to understand my passion. After to share also with my profession and finally because the others ultra trailers started to write me to have info about the places, the parcours, the trainings.

Your videos goals?

To give always proof and never hide nothing. Especially in a discipline so beautiful and so strong.

So the Tor can’t be “escape” …

The Tor was my biggest sporting adventure. In every sense. It’s not a case that the title of my film is L’aventure intérieure. A 121 hours run, between laughs, suffering and sharing. A fulfill of things and emotions really … géants. A run completed with a unique wish : to come back again.

After your experience at the Tor what do you suggest to who will do the race this year for the first time?

To carry about but without stress. They have to start well trained but not “over” trained. They have to found a good assistance, because to run for such a long time lonely is complicated. They have to take care about the nutrition, that has not to be revolutionized. I have been surprised about the positive reactions of my body, also if I’ve slept just for few hours in a little occasions, 1 hour each time. I’ve reached the arrival quite relaxed, without injuries and damages. I also could continued …

What would you say more?

A big THANKS to the Organization and to all the volunteers.

Denis is of course a journalist-trailer very “connected”. So to know him well, to see his film and to live his experiences and his emotions, you have just to follow him on the socials (see the links on the right).
