List of trailers admitted in the 2014 edition. Tor mania explodes all over the world!
February 28, 2014. The checking phase is now completed and the list of the 660 runners admitted to the 2014 edition of the Tor des Géants® is ready. We received more than 2,500 applications. 60 countries will be represented by the 660 runners admitted to the race. Starting from March the 1st the finalization process of each individual registration will begin.
From February 14th to 28th, as required by the regulation, all the checking procedures to determine the list of admitted trailers to the next Tor des Géants® 2014 were carried out.
Starting at 12:00 am today, Friday, February 28th, in fact, the list of the 660 admitted trailers will be available on the official website of the race, www.tordesgeants.it. They were selected considering the quotas by country of origin. It's a new record for the Tor, with 60 countries in attendance representing all five continents with a 30% increase in the total number of countries over the 2013 edition (there were 41).
Europe will have the largest contingent with 35 countries, followed by the Americas with 11 countries represented, Asia with 8, Africa with 4 and Oceania with 2.
There is a great Italian turnout, by far the most represented nation (40%), followed by France, a country of a great trail running tradition, and Spain, home of the last two winners: Oscar Perez (2012) and Iker Karrera (2013). Also worth mentioning is the sizeable Belgian attendance (23 trailers) and that of Japan, with 20 trailers.
Among the "new entries", we have Indonesia and India for the Asian continent; Latvia and Lithuania for the Baltic nations; Mexico and Uruguay from the Americas. There are a total of 22 countries with their first participation in the Tor des Géants®.
