Coinciding with the opening of entries to the Tor des Géants® 2016, the organizing company, VDA Trailers, announces the arrival of a new and prominent sponsor at the event, the British company Montane, which with a multi-year agreement as main sponsor in the great international Aosta Valley race, has captured a leading role.
Since 1993, Montane, based in Ashington on the border with Scotland, deals with clothing and accessories needed to brave nature and mountains in particular, under very extreme conditions.
Clothing and materials are tested at temperatures ranging from desert heat to 40 degrees below zero Arctic conditions, thanks to the significant technical contribution of extreme sports professionals operating from Arctic areas to the great North Faces of the Alps and the Himalayas, including Andy Kirkpatrick and new member Tom Ballard, the child prodigy of extreme alpinism.
A targeted and exclusive production, with only one goal: “faster and further away” (“Further and faster” - as stated by the company slogan), aided by light, durable, waterproof, and compressible clothing.
Most recently, with its “Via trail series”, it has become highly acclaimed worldwide in the world of running with its development of a series of products fully aimed at mountain running and Ultra Trails. Montane has thus fully joined the great Tor team, adding to the bonanza of great races that the British company supports; extreme races such as Montane Yukon Arctic Ultra, Montane Spin Race, Montane Lakeland 100 and 50, Montane Goldsteig Ultra Race.
Jonathan Petty, brand director Montane, also spoke about the powerful new agreement: “We're delighted to announce our official partnership with one of the world's premier ultra distance trail races. The Tor des Géants®embodies Montane's own philosophy of 'Further. Faster' which drives our passion for authentic endurance sports in extreme environments”. Working to support this exceptionally demanding endurance race helps cement our growing reputation as a provider of innovative, lightweight clothing and equipment. We look forward to the first Montane Tor des Géants®in September this year”.
