My thoughts, support and heart are with you and and all of Italy in these difficult times. After running TOR330 - Tor des Geants® over the last several years and TOR450 - Tor des Glaciers last year, I feel connected to the people and the mountains of the Aosta Valley. TOR is an experience wrapped into a race that has deeply affected me like no other, and I love every piece of it-- perhaps above all, the community and people of the race. I have been racing in the mountains for many years, but TOR is certainly unique and special, in large part due to the community that fiercely embraces its members. My heart is heavy for you and I hope that we can all heal together after this storm passes.
I am an emergency room doctor here in the US, and we are just beginning to fight our own battle here. Every day when I go to work and put on my mask and isolation gear, I take a moment, close my eyes and see myself on some high mountain. The strength that TOR has given me helps me care for my patients every day, and the thought of returning to the Aosta Valley keeps me smiling. Thank you for creating an event that inspires unity, community, and strength. Your whole TOR family from across the world is with you. My thoughts will continue to be with you, and I will see you in Courmayeur on the other side of this all!
